If you don’t want to read my rambling, here’s what you need, simply mix all the ingredients and you're good to go!

(If you’re interested in what I found then read on!)

INGREDIENTS:

·      1 tbsp ground coffee

·      2 tsp honey

·      1 tsp coconut oil

Hello!

Last night I tried out the natural face mask I made and I’m really excited by the results.

I’ve always struggled with my skin - I’ve been on every tablet, used every cream and even been to a dermatologist and still don’t have the skin I want - if something will supposedly help, I love to try it out and for once, something seems to have worked for me.

(Also, I’m not saying breakouts are a bad thing. I’m a lot more comfortable in my skin now considering I’ve suffered with them all my teenage years; I no longer feel the need to plaster myself in foundation to try and hide the ‘imperfections’ however I would like to have clearer skin! Maybe I need to try and change my diet/lifestyle a little, but this post is about something you can try right now!)

Last week, my mum was watching This Morning and Bryony Blake was showing her favourite face masks for a number of skin issues and at the end of her section she showed one that she had created. She talked about how good it felt on her skin and I thought I’d give it a go.

There’s only 3 ingredients and I guarantee you’ll have them in your kitchen.

Take a jar and add 1 tablespoon of ground coffee2 teaspoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Mix them until completely combined and you should have a mud-like texture mask (it’ll smell incredible too!)

I always like to do some research and found that all 3 ingredients have aspects that help to fight acne and skin problems, I’ll show you a little of what I found and leave the links below in case you want to read a little more into it!

Coffee:

The CGAs (Chlorogenic acids) in coffee have both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Combined with the natural exfoliation of coffee grounds, all these benefits can collectively fight acne.

Honey:

Honey has several chemical properties that enable it to kill bacteria.

Examples include:

  • A high concentration of sugar, which puts pressure on bacterial cells, making them less likely to multiply.

  • An acidic environment where bacteria cannot easily grow.

  • The compound propolis that bees use to seal their hive has antimicrobial properties.

Coconut Oil:

Studies have shown that lauric acid, which accounts for nearly half of the fatty acids in coconut oil, has been shown to kill off the strain of bacteria linked to acne.

In the video, she doesn’t actually say how long to leave the mask on for and as there aren’t any harsh chemicals, I don’t think it’ll matter too much, so I’ll leave that up to you.

Bryony said she left hers on for half an hour, however I ended up leaving it for an hour (I was watching Gossip Girl and completely forgot to remove it!)

MY RESULTS?

When I removed the mask, my skin felt plumper and softer, the small bumps across my forehead visibly appeared minimised and I currently have a breakout on my cheek, the redness seemed to have been toned down and it was less inflamed.

I then left my skin to breathe and decided I’d see if there were any lasting effects in the morning and amazingly there were.

Today I woke up and my skin was really smooth, my breakout appears to have healed a bit and the small bumps seemed to have stayed away.

I know the journey to clear skin isn’t an overnight one, however I’m really impressed with this mask.

I’m going to use it a couple more times this week and see if I get the same results. I’ll keep you updated!

Talk soon!
